Hartalega down despite statement on environ compliance

KUALA LUMPUR: Shares of glove maker HARTALEGA HOLDINGS BHD [] fell in afternoon trade on Wednesday, Dec 8 despite the management's statement the company complied with environmental regulations.

At 3.08pm, it was down nine sen to RM5.30. There were 108,600 shares done.

Hartalega Holdings Bhd said it had never been ordered to close, suspended, nor issued serious warnings of any kind.

Its executive director Kuan Mun Leong said they were assured by Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim during a meeting on Dec 2 that 'we are operating legally and are in full compliance of all state regulations'.

Kuan said since its inception, Hartalega 'has been in total compliance with all relevant laws including those relating to the environment and building bye-laws'.

He added in some areas related to effluent discharge and emissions, Hartalega not only met but constantly exceeded standards enforced by the DoE.
