KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia will offer direct flights to Balikpapan, East Kalimantan Indonesia from January 12, 2011, its eleventh destination destination in Indonesia.
AirAsia will begin servicing the new route with three flights weekly departing from LCC Terminal, Kuala Lumpur to Sepinggan Airport, Balikpapan on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
In a statement Dec 8, AirAsia regional head of commercial Kathleen Tan said the airline hoped this new service would enable Malaysians who were working in the oil palm and coal mining industry to return home more often and provide expatriates with the opportunity to use LCCT as a hub for onward travel into other AirAsia destinations throughout ASEAN.
'We also believe that his new service will stimulate visiting friends and relatives crowd and fuel AirAsia's aggressive growth in Indonesia,' she said.
In conjunction with the introduction of this new service, AirAsia will offer an all-in fare from RM58 (one-way travel only) for the booking period from Dec 8-15, 2010 for the travel period from Jan 12 to Nov 10, 2011.
