TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei rose 1.2 percent on Thursday, Oct 14, drawing support from robust U.S. earnings and higher commodity prices as the dollar weakened on expectations that the Federal Reserve will further loosen monetary policy, boosting resource stocks.
The benchmark Nikkei gained 111.66 points to 9,515.17. It rose 0.2 percent on short-covering on Wednesday, but the strong yen put a brake on a further rise.
The broader Topix rose 1 percent to 830.67. - Reuters
