Ali: I made the decision to quit JCorp

KUALA LUMPUR: The speculation on the immediate resignation of former president and chief executive officer of Johor Corp (JCorp) ended on Tuesday, Aug 24 when Tan Sri Muhammad Ali Hashim revealed he was the one that made the decision.

Speaking to reporters after the KFC HOLDINGS (M) BHD []'s extraordinary general meeting here on Tuesday, he said the decision was made due to the current environment.

"The environment is not conducive for me to stay on so I took off. The decision was to cut it short. I made the decision," he said when asked whether he was pushed to make that decision.

Muhammad Ali was supposed to retire in November after tendering his six-month notice.

On whether he would still hold his current positions in listed companies under JCorp, he said: "At the moment I'm still the chairmen of all the public listed companies. The final authority rests on the shareholders."
