KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 13): RAM Rating Services Bhd made its mark in terms of Islamic rating expertise when it was awarded the Islamic Business & Finance Award 2011 by the Dubai-based CPI Financial.
It said on Tuesday the award was under the category of Best Research in Islamic Finance. It was also a significant milestone for RAM Ratings as it was the first Malaysian company to receive the accolade.
The ratings agency said the awards, currently in its sixth year, was considered one of the most prominent events in the Islamic financial-services industry.
RAM Ratings' head of Islamic Ratings Zakariya Othman said: 'This award further acknowledges RAM Ratings' foothold in terms of Islamic rating expertise, which has been built up over the last two decades and adds another feather in the cap for the Malaysia International Islamic Financial Centre (MIFC) championed by the Malaysian government.'
RAM Ratings rated RM25.6 billion of sukuk programmes as at end-September 2011, capturing 60.9% of the Malaysian domestic market sukuk.
The Islamic Business & Finance Awards 2011 is an annual awards ceremony designed to recognise and reward the various players in Islamic finance that have played a major role in developing the Islamic business and finance community.
