KUALA LUMPUR: SALCON BHD [] shares advanced on Tuesday, Aug 2 after the company secured its second project in India after its unit was awarded a letter of acceptance by Davanagere City Corporation, Karnataka, India, for the laying of raw water pumping mains and related ancillary works.
At 9.45am, Salcon gained 2.5 sen to 56.5 sen with 719,400 shares trade.
In a statement Monday, Aug 1, Salcon said its wholly owned subsidiary Salcon Engineering Bhd had been awarded the project valued at RM16.2 million.
Salcon executive director Datuk Eddy Leong said that as one of Asia's fastest growing economies, there was a huge demand for reliable potable water to ensure consistent growth in India.
'Winning the tender in Davanagere signifies another milestone for Salcon's expansion to tap into the fast growing India water and wastewater market,' he said.
Currently, Salcon is undertaking a NRW pilot project in Mumbai.
