Declining crude oil prices weigh on O&G stocks

KUALA LUMPUR: Oil and gas-related stocks declined in the afternoon session on Monday, Aug 8 as crude oil prices slipped following the downgrade of the United States' credit rating, and escalating worries of a slowdown in global economic growth.

Crude oil futures fell US$3.13 per barrel to US$83.75 at 2.55pm.

On Bursa Malaysia, Petronas Dagangan fell 50 sen to RM16.70, SapuraCrest 21 sen to RM4.20, Dialog down 16 sen to RM2.52, Kencana fell 14 sen to RM2.73 and KNM lost nine sen to RM1.59.

The FBM KLCI was down 34.12 points to 1,490.31 as at 2.55pm.
