Carlsberg to decide on input costs in three months

KUALA LUMPUR:'' CARLSBERG BREWERY MALAYSIA BHD [] says it will pursue organic growth and that the beer manufacturer is concerned about rising raw material prices.

Managing director Soren Ravn said on Wednesday, April 6 prices of''raw materials such as malt and aluminium for beer cans had increased by 30% from a year ago.

"It is an issue," Ravn told reporters in Shah Alam at a brand repositioning ceremony for Carlsberg.

He said the company had locked in up to 90% of raw material prices and that it would have to make decisions in the next three months on input cost.

'This is to prepare the company as it seeks to safeguard earnings from 2012 onwards,' he said.
