KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI rose to its highest level since Feb 29, 2008 on Monday, July 26 in line with the gains at key regional markets as investors' sentiment was boosted by a reassurance that European banks had passed "stress tests" on their ability to deal with a debt crisis.
At the mid-day break, the FBM KLCI added 4.95 points to 1,350.63, boosted by gains at banking stocks and select blue chips. Volume was 460.49 million shares valued at RM523.01 million.'' Gainers led losers by 333 to 251, while 262 counters traded unchanged.
Crude palm oil futures for the third month delivery rose RM7 per tonne to RM2,505; gold was up US$3.30 per ounce to US$1,192.52 while crude oil rose 9 cents to US79.07 per barrel.

On Bursa Malaysia, Nestle was the top gainer this morning and was up RM1.52 to RM38.50; Guinness Anchor rose 21 sen to RM8, APM Automotive 19 sen to RM4.90, KLK, United Malacca and BAT up 18 sen each to RM16.98, RM9.98 and RM44.04, respectively, while BHIC rose 17 sen to RM4.26.
CIMB rose 10 sen to RM7.36, AMMB and Genting added four sen each to RM5.16 and RM7.69, while Maybank and Public Bank gained two sen each to RM7.71 and RM12.18.
Cycle and Carriage was the top loser and fell 39 sen to RM5.75 after investors were disappointed over the dividends it declared in the second quarter ended June 30, 2010.
Mudajaya fell after it resumed trade this morning and was down 25 sen to RM5.63 despite issuing a clarification that it was not directly queried by the Securities Commission.
Before market opened for trade, Mudajaya clarified it had not been directly queried by the Securities Commission (SC) with regards to any complaint about the company, thus far. In an urgent statement, it said the board of Mudajaya was not aware of the nature of the complaint about the company by anyone whosoever.
Other losers included Tanjong, HELP, Goh Ban Huat and UMW.
Time dotCom was the most actively traded stock this morning with 27.34 million shares done. The counter added 1.5 sen to 61 sen. Other actives included Harvest, Time, Kimlun, Silk Holdings, Scomi, Berjaya Corp and Octagon.
