Digistar 3Q net profit jumps 425% to RM6m

KUALA LUMPUR: DIGISTAR CORPORATION BHD []'s net proft surged 425% to RM6 million from RM1.14 million a year ago and expected the momentum to continue into the next quarter as it expands it customer base in the provision of IPTV services to hospitals .

The ACE Market company said on Tuesday, Aug 23 revenue slipped 30.9% to RM24.85 million from RM35.98 million. Earnings per share were 2.88 sen compared with 0.62 sen.

For the first half ended June 30, net profit jumped 616% to RM15.02 million from RM2.09 million while revenue increased 15.5% to RM75.99 million from RM65.75 million.

'Currently, the group's order book stands at RM123 million as at end of June 30, 2011 out of which RM60 million has been delivered by the first half of the current financial year. In the meantime, Digistar has participated in worth some RM224 million,' it said.

Digistar increased its customer base from nine hospitals to 12 hospitals as at end of July, providing exclusive IPTV services to the hospitals for 10 years.

'Currently, the group is in the final stage of negotiations to provide its IPTV services with five (5) new hospitals which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The company said it expects that its IPTV services will be able to generate approximately RM2 million recurring income per month by end of 2012.

Digistar's core activities are design, supply, installation and integration of IT infrastructure, teleconferencing, local area network, interactive media management systems, radio and television news automation, telecommunication systems, integrated audio and visual systems and other related electronic systems.
