Hong Leong Bank down in late morning

KUALA LUMPUR: Shares of Hong Leong Bank fell in the morning session on Tuesday, June 22 in line with the weaker broader market and the latest development in the takeover of EON Capital.

At 11.37am, EON Cap fell 12 sen to RM8.60 with 46,000 shares done.

The FBM KLCI fell 5.0 points to 1,330.29. Losers beat gainers 324 to 148 while 200 stocks were unchanged. Turnover was 290 million shares valued at RM343.94 million.

Primus Pacific Partners, which holds 20.2% of'' EON CAPITAL BHD [], has filed legal action at the High Court of Malaya against a number of respondents, including certain members of the board of directors as well as certain shareholders of EONCap.

"The events that have transpired since EONCap received the first unsolicited offer from HLBank in January 2010 to acquire the assets and liabilities of EON Capital have forced Primus to make a reluctant and difficult decision to file a legal action in order to safeguard the interests of the company, the management team, employees, and all of EON Capital's shareholders," Primus said on Monday, June 21.
